The Ministry of Public Health announced that the one millionth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine has been passed since the start of the national program of vaccination against Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the State of Qatar.

The stage of passing the millionth dose of the (Covid-19) vaccine is a great achievement that shows the rapid pace of work in immunizing the Qatari community against this epidemic within the framework of the national program for vaccination against Coronavirus (Covid-19), where currently more than 170 thousand people are vaccinated. Weekly.

Since the implementation of the vaccination program, the program’s strategy has been based on giving priority to vaccination for people who are most vulnerable to symptoms and serious complications resulting from infection with the virus, but with the availability of more vaccine supplies and the opening of more vaccination centers throughout the country, the scope of eligibility and priority criteria has been expanded. In receiving the vaccine in accordance with the plan of implementation of the national program for vaccination against the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the State of Qatar, and in light of this, 77% of those over sixty years old and 27% of adults who meet the criteria for receiving vaccination have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the vaccine to be vaccinated Thus, a significant proportion of the community members who are most vulnerable to symptoms and dangerous complications are immunized against this virus.

Today, Ms. Baby Manalo, a 42-year-old Filipino resident, received the first dose of the (Covid-19) vaccine at Al Waab Health Center, to be the millionth dose that has been administered to the public since the start of the implementation of the national program for vaccination against Coronavirus (Covid- 19) In the State of Qatar.

Ms. Baby Manalo said: “I am pleased that today I received the first dose of the vaccine after a year of living under the threat of infection with this virus, and I take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to the government of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Public Health for the measures they are taking to protect the population in the State of Qatar. The danger of this disease. I can now feel more comfortable and calm because of my vaccination, which will contribute to protecting my health and reducing my anxiety about the risks of this disease.

It should be noted that the national program for vaccination against Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the State of Qatar is implemented through 35 vaccination centers throughout the country, where most of the vaccine doses are given in the twenty-seven health centers of the Primary Health Care Corporation in addition to the vaccination center in The National Convention Center, and the two in-car vaccination centers in Lusail and Al Wakrah.

The priority groups for receiving the (Covid-19) vaccine at present include the following:

  • People who have reached or are over the age of forty, regardless of their health conditions.
  • People with chronic diseases of moderate severity.
  • And more health care workers, and essential employees in various ministries and sectors, including the teaching and administrative bodies working in the field of education.
