Kuwait: 2 Firms Files Closed For Making Labourers Work During Banned Time

KUWAIT CITY, July 19: Head of Inspection team at Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Eng. Hussain Al-Mutairi revealed that the ministry closed the files of two companies for making their personnel work during the banned time between 12 noon and 4 pm, reports Alam Alyawm daily.

In a press statement, he said the inspection team registered 643 violations against 149 sites during a field tour in South Surra.

He stressed that some laborers were found without a Civil ID while some did not have the license to indicate that they were healthy enough to work at the sites, adding that most laborers were threatened by their contractors to complete the work within a deadline in order to earn their fees.

He said the minister, undersecretary and assistant undersecretary of the ministry stressed on the necessity of applying law strictly on violators in order to maintain the reputation of Kuwait internationally.

In another development, Assistant Undersecretary for Surveillance and Auditing at Ministry of Public Works Talal Al-Utheina revealed that the future projects for development of roads will cost approximately KD 600 million.

He pointed out that the projects for developing Al-Nuwaiseeb Road and Fifth Ring Road are the most important, adding that the ministry is committed to carrying out its projects according to the development plan of the country.
