25 July 2012- The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam gave recognition to an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) for his “selfless service, diligence, honesty and integrity as a Filipino worker,” and for “being an inspiring example of the character traits and good image of a Filipino in the Sultanate.”
In awarding Mr. San Diego a Plaque of Recognition, Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Nestor Z. Ochoa lauded the former in projecting an excellent image of OFWs. “Through your example, we hope to inspire our countrymen in Brunei to show excellence, dedication, honesty and integrity in their personal and professional dealings,” the Ambassador said.
Mr. Edgar I. San Diego is an OFW based in Brunei Darussalam for the last seven years. He is married to Rosemarie V. San Diego and the couple is blessed with three children, namely, 18-year old Roselyn, 17-year old Rosevee, and 7-year old Ederick. He is currently employed as a cleaner by ISSN Facility Services Sdn. Bhd. and has been assigned at the RBA Golf Club, Berakas since 2007.
In his seven years working at the RBA Golf Club, Mr. San Diego has occasionally found valuable items accidentally left behind by members of the club, from cell phones, wallets, to an expensive Rolex watch. Time and again, he has dutifully returned the misplaced items to management and eventually to their rightful owners, earning the respect of his employer and co-workers alike.
The awarding ceremony was conducted immediately after the regular Monday morning flag raising rites. Afterwards, Embassy personnel joined the honoree, Mr. San Diego, Mrs. Marina Radovan, OIC of ISSN Facility Services Sdn. Bhd. and Ms. Iidil Bartholomew, President of the Filipino Association in Brunei (FAB), in a breakfast salo-salo held at the Chancery. END
