21 February 2020 \u2013 The Medical Response Team (MRT) of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait\u2019s Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) unit took part in the First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Seminar in Kuwait City on 15 February 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires and Consul General Mohd. Noordin Pendosina N. Lomondot said that participating in trainings such as the First Aid and CPR Seminar \u201cwill boost the capacity of Embassy personnel to respond to situations where a Filipino\u2019s life may be in grave danger, and will help improve the delivery of services to our distressed kababayans in Kuwait.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vista Land International Marketing, Inc. spearheaded the seminar, which targets health care providers, pharmacists, and the general public, and aims to equip individuals with the basic knowledge and hands-on experience in basic first aid and CPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor and registered nurse Virginia Santos keynoted the training seminar on basic first aid and CPR, particularly on the initial determination of the health problem, and the corresponding approach that must be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ATN Unit\u2019s MRT was also trained on how to deal with and identify various situations like minor bleeding, choking, heart attack, low blood sugar, stroke, electric shock injury, seizure, fainting, minor burns, stings and insect bites, and heat-related emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with serving the more than 230,000 overseas Filipinos in Kuwait, Embassy personnel regularly undergo trainings and workshops to increase their knowledge in the field of medicine. The seminar is important since the Embassy caters to hundreds of Filipinos daily who avail themselves of different consular and ATN services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In ensuring the welfare and well-being of distressed overseas Filipinos, the Embassy also assist Filipinos with illnesses through services such as referrals to hospitals, clinics, hospital visits, facilitation of Filipino patients\u2019 hospital expenses, and repatriation of Filipino patients to the Philippines.
