Those who attended the meeting spearheaded by Parish Priest Rev Fr Monching Atanacio at the Holy Family Cathedral in Kuwait City agreed unanimously that cash donations from various groups and individuals is the easiest and fastest way to extend help to the flood victims who were left homeless and with no food due to the incessant heavy rains brought by the Southwest monsoon.

“We are calling on all Filipinos in Kuwait to help us in this fund drive which will run till Aug 19, 2012. Let us share whatever we have to alleviate the sufferings of our fellow Filipinos who have been ravaged by floods brought about by the heavy rains,” appealed Fr. Monching in an interview with the Arab Times. Those who want to hand in their cash donations may give it through their respective organizations or directly to Fr. Monching. “You may reach me on this number 60494080,” he informed.

The Filipino organisations agreed that all cash donations collected will be sent to the Philippines through the Archdiocese of Manila. “Now is the time for us to unite as one people and show how much we care for all those in distress,” stated Fr. Monching.

Meanwhile, a group volunteered to oversee the donation of relief goods such as the Pinoy Ambulance Nurses in Kuwait (PANIK). Although donation of relief goods is discouraged as the shipment of relief goods would be tedious and takes a longer time. The group explained that there might be some people who will be donating relief goods in one way or another. “We’re all one in this cause to help. Per agreement of all groups, we encourage cash donations but just in case, some people really want to donate relief goods then PANIK will be on hand to assist. You may call us up on 66354184,” he informed.

On the other hand, some individuals and other Filipino organisations have also come up with activities to raise funds for the flood victims. Fast rising Filipino stylist Marlon Aquino Malinao and Filipino photographer Henry Feolino with other Filipino photographers launched on Tuesday the “MARvelous Make-over for a Cause” for the flood victims. “All proceeds of this make-over for a cause will be donated to the Sagip Kapamilya. We just can’t sit and watch all our poor kababayan in the Philippines. In our own small way, let’s share our time and talents and try our best to help,” stated Malinao.

Meanwhile, the Pinoy Digital Photographers in Kuwait (PINDOT) will be holding a Photoshoot for Cause on Aug 19. “We are calling all Filipino photographers, Professionals and hobbyists as well as our expat friends to join us in the Photoshoot for a Cause. Let’s help the flood victims in the Philippines in the spirit of ‘Bayanihan’,” pointed out PINDOT President Rico Canosa.

By Michelle Fe Santiago Special to the Arab Times KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: ‘Cash donations the easiest, fastest way to extend help’ Heads of Filipino organisations and individuals launched on Wednesday a fund drive to…

[42,16,17
177,226,179
