PNOY appoints Kabayani Alexander Asuncion as member of the POEA governing board

MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno Aquino III has named businessman Alexander Asuncion as member of the governing board of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration representing the land-based sector.

KUWAIT – Filipinos in the Middle East felt disappointed after President Benigno Aquino III failed to mention anything concrete for overseas Filipino workers during his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) last Monday.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration yesterday exposed another e-mail scam targeting Filipino nurses and other medical practitioners for supposed employment in a hospital in Australia.Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac said the POEA received another recruitment e-mail, supposedly coming from Sydney Adventist Hospital, this time charging a fee of PhP3,750.00 for a two-day “British English” training.

This is similar to the one allegedly sent by Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Canada which offers “Visa Interview Coaching” for a fee of Php 3,888.00. Karen Franchiti, human resource specialist of the real Stevenson Memorial Hospital wrote the POEA denying having any

Italy: Filipino Baby died after being injected with milk

Rome, July 23 (IANS/AKI) Six staff members of a hospital in Rome were investigated Monday after a premature Filipino baby died when he was injected with artificial milk instead of saline solution.  The staff members probed at the San Giovanni hospital included doctors, nurses and auxiliaries.

The baby boy who died on June 29 due to presumed error because milk was infused instead of the right solution.
