LAHI ANG PAGPASAKA UG ASUNTO, LAHI USAB ANG PAGPAMATAOD SA KAMATUORANG NAG-ASO ASO!
Like a bolt of lightning from the clear blue sky, the news broke out wherein the Ombudsman recommended for the indictment of Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Manong Johnny Enrile and Bong “PANDAY” Revilla.
Momentarily, we may heave a sigh of relief just thinking out loud that the wheels of justice move slowly at a snail’s pace. Is this historic? Not too long ago, we witnessed how a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was unseated by the Senate Impeachment court presided over by Manong Johnny Enrile, who is now fighting for his political life.
Also, we heard the bombastic condemnation of Bong “PANDAY” Revilla at the height of the video-scandal investigation against Dr. Heiden Kho resulting into the latter’s cancellation of his license to practice his profession as a physician. I am reminded at this point by the biblical story about an adulteress who was condemned to death by stoning after a public trial. But truth and behold, Jesus told the crowd, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Feeling unsatisfied, still there are more questions than answers that have surfaced as we brace for this unprecedented development when incumbent senators are charged for a non bailable offense of plunder. I dare say, the number of high-level officials who face the prospect of incarceration may appear to be only the tip of the iceberg if we consider that magnitude of the amount which is reportedly being stolen from public coffers.
I commend the Ombudsman for the speedy disposition of the plunder complaint and hope that charges can really be proven. AFTER ALL, it is one thing to charge a person with an offense, and it is another thing to prove his culpability and conviction.
