08 February 2012 – The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh lauded the group Filipino Dentists in KSA for its enthusiastic participation in the Embassy’s Overseas Absentee Voters (OAV) Registration campaign.
On two separate occasions, the Filipinos Dentists in KSA (FDK) spearheaded a group OAV registration project with the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh as part of the group’s social responsibility and community involvement efforts.
On 20 January 2012, the Filipino Dentists in KSA, headed by its enthusiastic President, Dr. Lourdes Madayag and other FDK officers, led thirty-five of its members, their family and friends to register as overseas absentee voters. Another eleven FDK members, their family and friends registered on 27 January 2012. They were warmly welcomed by Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago and his OAV Registration Team members.
Ambassador Tago lauded FDK President Dr. Madayag for enthusiastically heeding the Embassy’s call for Filipino Community partners in the Kingdom to become active partners in the Embassy’s efforts at encouraging all Filipinos in the Kingdom to register as overseas absentee voters.
Ambassador Tago also congratulated the rest of the FDK officers, including its Secretary Dr. Imelda Marzan and Public Relations Officer Dr. Bhing Macapili-Cabal for engaging FDK members, their family and friends in encouraging their involvement in this important undertaking.
“I invite all Filipino Community partners to follow the initiative of FDK and include OAV registration as part of your efforts in social responsibility and community building,” said Ambassador Tago.
Registering as an overseas absentee voter will allow all qualified Filipinos to vote for members of the Senate and party-list representative in the National Elections in April to May 2013.
The OAV Registration booth is located at the Embassy’s lobby and is open Saturdays to Wednesdays from 8:00AM to 5:00PM and on Thursdays from 8:00AM to 12:00 NN. Arrangements for OAV Registration on a weekend may also be requested through email at oav@philembassy-riyadh.org.
