1st Filipino Europe-Wide D2D Conference

Statement:
The Diaspora-to-Dialogue (D2D): 1st Conference of Filipinos in Europe-2012 was convened by the Filipino-Italian Members of the Global Filipino Diaspora Council (GFDC) and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), hosted by the Philippine Embassy Rome and patronized by the International Organization of Migration (IOM), the Scalibrini Institute of Migration Onlus (SIMIONLUS), and the Comune di Roma.
Overall Purpose:
The D2D of Filipinos in Europe was designed to provide a forum of Europe-based Filipino organizations and associations for a consensual and collective thinking of issues regarding migrant socio-economic integration/re-integration in host and home country processes empowering migrants for development in both countries
Furthermore, the conference has an end-view to making the forum a permanent venue for continuing dialogue through: (1) active participation in the formation of the Global Filipino Diaspora Council; and, (2) explicit focus on outcomes that can guide the thematic work programme of the 2013 Global Summit in the Philippines.
Primary Purpose:
The Diaspora-2-Dialogue is the first forum of its kind among Europe-based Filipino individuals, organizations and associations designed to provide for a consensual and collective thinking of issues regarding migrant socio-economic integration/re-integration in host and home country processes empowering migrants for development in both countries.The conference has an end-view to making the forum a permanent venue for continuing dialogue through:
1. Active participation in the formation of the Global Filipino Diaspora Council; and,
2. Explicit focus on outcomes that can guide the thematic work programme of the 2013 Global Summit in the Philippines
Specific Objective:
To engage the Filipinos in a forward look attitude that prepares them with options to cope with changes taking place in both host and home countries that directly impact their family, social and economic lives in Diaspora.
