Filipina cancer patient Mary wants to die at home, but to return, she needs 1 million rubles

MOSCOW 09/01/2021 3 509

A Moscow hospice patient, Filipina Mary Jane , has advanced stage breast cancer with metastases to the spine. According to doctors’ forecasts, the woman has 2 weeks to live. She dreams of dying at home, but there is no money to return. This requires about 1 million rubles.

Anna Federmesser, founder of the Vera hospice charity , wrote about this .

“One ticket to Manila in business class and another one for a doctor (round trip in economy class) is about 1 million rubles. The tickets themselves cost 400 thousand, and another 600 thousand must be paid to the licensed service of specialized medical transportation so that Mary does not have any problems on the road. This means that she will be accompanied by a professional doctor and technically sophisticated breathing equipment, and she will also have to collect a huge package of all kinds of documents and certificates needed to be taken on board – all this also requires money, ”said Anna Federmesser.

Mary’s full name is Mary Jane Labutong Cappinpin. She came to Russia from the Philippines 7 years ago to work in the cleaning industry. A husband with a schoolgirl daughter and her mother remained at home.

In 2019, Mary underwent an examination for a breast lump. Cancer was diagnosed too late. The woman did not say anything to her relatives and experienced severe depression.

Now Mary is in the hospice in Degunino. Due to metastases, she cannot walk, and her whole life is spent in the ward between the bed and the wheelchair.

“Every day she tells us that she dreams of returning to Manila and dying among her native people who speak her language. Once in the hospice, Mary Jane calmed down a little and now lives by faith in a miracle. She believes that she will be able to return home, will have time to kiss her husband, hug her daughter, lean against her mother, say thank you to her sister, ”said the social activist.

If someone promptly donates a large amount, it will be possible to send Mary home.

UPDATES: The collection is closed, the required amount has been collected.
